Measuring Yourself

Forget the specialty store, here’s the secret to bra sizing and measuring yourself at home!

Step 1

Measuring Band Size

The first step is to get the band size. For this you will need a sewing measuring tape. Take the measuring tape and wrap it all the way around your chest, underneath your breasts. For example, one Mama measured 36 inches.

Step 2

Measuring Bust Size

The next step is to get the bust size. Take the measuring tape and wrap it all the way around your chest again; but, this time over the fullest part of your breasts. In this example, our Mama measured 44 inches.

Step 3

Determining Cup Size

The final step requires some math to calculate your cup size.

Your cup size is determined by the difference of the first 2 measurements; for this example we will use the band size from the initial measurement of 36 inches and the bust size from the second measurement of 44 inches. The difference of the two measurements is 8 inches (44in – 36in = 8in).

Next, divide the difference of the initial measurements by 2 to determine your cup size (8in / 2 = 4).

Cup sizes are generally as follows: A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, DD(E)=5, DDD(F)=6.

In our example, this Mama wears a 36D.
